FIRST CREEK WATER WALK

To begin our watery theme for the day, we first drove to the Tap Inn Hotel in Kent Town on the corner of College Street and Rundle Street.

There is some underground parking off Rundle Street, but at this time of day it is easy to park on Rundle Street. We have morning tea here.

The Tap Inn is a fascinating destination where one can easily spend an hour. I prepared a list of ten things for our Seniors to look out for – it could have been a list of 20! The toilets are particularly interesting, including this tiled wall.

Leaving the Tap Inn, the plan is to follow up sections of First Creek. We drive up Kensington Road, turn right at Clapton St and so to the corner of Heathpool St and Newcastle St, Heathpool. We drop our walkers at the end of the path through Tusmore Park. Bus and cars then drive to Stirling St, Tusmore, adjacent to Tusmore Park, where we pick up the walkers. The path through Tusmore Park alongside the Creek is a delight.

We next drive to Hazelwood Ave, Hazelwood Park, adjacent to the park. Here we drop our walkers who will follow up the creek south-east through the park. Bus and cars drive to Hawthorn Cresc, Hazelwood Park, adjacent to the Park and close to the duck pond. Here we pick up our walkers.

Finally we drive to Waterfall Gully, where we enjoy the waterfall and its surrounds,

Finally (giving up our water theme!) we drive to the Arkaba Hotel (SE corner of Fullarton Rd and Glen Osmond Rd) for lunch. There is a convenient entrance to the restaurant at the SE corner of the complex. For parking, perhaps try entering off Fullarton Rd south of the building, and drive in east as far as possible. We enjoy a well prepared lunch in pleasant surroundings.

The group agreed that this was a very enjoyable outing.
