PORT ADELAIDE REPORT

Our trip today encompasses Port Adelaide and nearby Semaphore.

We drive down to Port Adelaide where we first visit the Seahorse Farm at 20 Divett Street. Street parking is easy (at least at this time of day) and there is an entrance charge. The Farm displays sea horses in various stages of growth, leafy sea dragons, and other sea creatures. There is a video of their work, and staff are on hand to answer questions.

We next walk to the nearby Maritime Museum at 126 Lipson Street, where it is very easy to spend an hour or more looking at the interesting displays from the past, and difficult to reassemble the group afterwards! There is an entry charge.

We now take the bus the short distance across to Semaphore to view the historic time ball tower. A ball was dropped from the top of the pole precisely at 1 p.m. each day so that mariners could synchronize their clocks.

The bus can now be driven to park in the carpark behind our lunch destination, the Federal Hotel, while the group walks across the street.

We enjoy a pleasant leisurely lunch in this historic hotel ...

... before boarding the bus and heading for home.
