C5. HONEYCOMB

The cells of honeycomb form a regular hexagonal tessellation of the plane. This tessellation is not a fractal, but it can be constructed using a fractal generation method. We can begin the construction of a third of the fractal Koch curve by replacing a given line segment (the initiator) by four smaller segments (the generator) as at right top. Repeating this process on each new segment gives the fractal. Now if we start with a line segment and the new generator (right, bottom), and repeat the process, we obtain a portion of the regular hexagonal tessellation.
