WOOD HOUSE |

This beautiful house was built in the 1880s and occupied for many years by Elizabeth Jane Wood. The whole house is wonderfully decorated, from the wrought iron balustrades to the gable to the window decoration. A view of the side of the house captures a glimpse of a wrought iron detail along the roof ridge. The house is now part of Helping Hand Aged Care Inc. However, there is a puzzle here. The blue plaque identifies this house as being constructed for William James Verco. The Adelaide City Council ascribes first ownership to Elizabeth Jane Wood! |
