CATHOLIC, HOBART, TASMANIA

One of the most attractive views of St Mary’s is the interior West wall with the magnificent rose window framed by the organ. The beautiful rose window has 8-fold symmetry and the abstract design appears to show flames radiating from the central cross. It was designed by Sydney stained glass artist Stephen Moor and installed in 1981. • The lovely quatrefoil of the Virgin Mary appears in the narthex, above the West doors. In Byzantine art the three stars were thought to depict the Holy Trinity. • Many of the windows in this Cathedral incorporate a small rose-like window at the top.
