After marriage, farmed on west coast for 5 years, then moved to Loveday (in the Riverland). Cleared scrub, worked on installation of Lock 9, mined opal at Coober Pedy. After the Depression, he grew vegetables and kept cows. Moved to Barmera in 1958. Involved in church and community.
