Misc. Notes
Marjorie, ( Marjie ) was one of three daughters (a twin) of George and Mini Lucas who owned a general store in Onga Onga. She had a happy childhood and a special relationship with her father.
After attending Technical College in Napier she work as a typist and clerk for a shipping firm at the port of Napier. She loved going to dances with her twin sister and could do a cool Charleston.
In her early 20's Margie and her sister started loosing their hearing and by the time she had had five daughters in eight years she was quite deaf but sadly it wasn't until she was in her 50's that she was able to afford a decent hearing aid. Margie was a quiet, shy lady who was embarrassed about her deafness so kept to herself and had very few friends, preferring to rely on family for company. She was an avid reader and well known by the librarians in Takapau. She died of a stroke at age 67 years. [Philip SCOTT]
