William was born in 1818 in Thickhill, Yorkshire, England. He died on 9 Apr 1899 in Schomburgk, S.A., Australia. He married Sarah JACQUES on 23 Jul 1839 in Adelaide, S.A., Australia. William immigrated in 1836 to S.A. on 'The Cygnet'. He was employed as hotelier in 1837 in 'The British' Hotel, Finnis St, North Adelaide, S.A.. He was employed as licensee in 1851/1853 in 'The Crown Inn', Truro, S.A.. He was employed as butcher in 1855 in Barton, S.A.. He was employed as general store owner in 1863 in Blanchetown, S.A.
