WATTLE PARK – SKYE

VARIATION II : Knox Tce – Wyfield Rd

Circuit : 1 hour 10 minutes

WYFIELD RD

Just along McBeath Drive, from which there are panoramic views out over the plains (see below), we can turn left down Knox Tce – an interesting road to walk down.

At the first sharp right bend we face a gateway into Wyfield Reserve.

Looking across Wyfield Reserve. Skye ridge at top, private road at left,
and just below we see the Wyfield reserve track!

Follow the zig-zag goat track which leads down to the end of upper Wyfield Road.

Looking down Wyfield Reserve

Wyfield Road is one of those interesting historical accidents – a plan which never really happened.  The lower road is sealed, attractive, and residential.  The upper road, leading left off Knox Tce is well kept but unmade as a road.  The two sections are joined by a short walking track which appears to be in part private property.

From the Reserve, walk down the walking track to lower Wyfield Rd, and so back to Kensington Rd.

Turn right, and it is a short walk back to the shops.

As a further alternative, instead of traversing the goat track, continue down Knox Tce and turn left down Wyfield Rd.  Walk to the end and negotiate the walking track as before.
