121. CHAPTER HOUSE RUINS

RemainsOfChapterHouse

The Cloister Garden is on the South side of the cathedral, and here we find the ruins of the old Chapter House. The Rochester monks were Benedictines, and the Chapter House was where they listened each day to a chapter from the Rule of St Benedict. 122. CLOISTER GARTH

The Cloister Garth is the name of the garden to the South of the Cathedral. It is a tranquil garden, surrounded by the ruins of the monks’ priory buildings – a space to reflect and relax. This completes our tour of Rochester Cathedral.

Conclusion

CONCLUSION

I hope you have enjoyed visiting Rochester Cathedral with me. It is a wonderful old cathedral with so much history.

I am happy to receive constructive comments or corrections concerning this website. The best websites are the ones which have no errors! I am grateful to my wife Margie who accompanied me, and who has proof-read these pages.

Rochester Cathedral has an interesting website, and there is also a booklet called ‘Rochester Cathedral’. Much of the textual information about the Cathedral on my site has come from these sources and I am happy to acknowledge this. The link for the Cathedral website is:
