B2. RIVER

A river system like the Amazon in South America wonderfully illustrates a fractal in nature. Each tributary has a structure strikingly like that of the whole river. Notice here that we do not obtain exact self-similarity: no tributary is exactly similar to the whole river. However, there is a visual and statistically close likeness here.
