22. RAILWAY GATES
Coral Street

The railway gates across Coral Street are the only hand-operated gates remaining in South Australia. They were made from wood in the early 1900s.

In 1998 the gates were named the ‘Rex Tilbrook Memorial Gates’ to honour a keen ‘Save the Rail’ campaigner. There is a special plaque to commemorate this occasion.
