7. TRIANGULAR LODGE

In the East Midland county of Northamptonshire in the centre of England stands the Tudor house Rushton Hall, and in the grounds, the Triangular Lodge. The Lodge was built in 1593 by Sir Thomas Tresham as a pious testament to his Catholic faith. Everything in the building is based on the number three: three walls each with three gables and three triangular windows, three storeys, and a three-sided chimney. There is much more!

Buildings based on triangles are rather rare. This might lead us to ask why most buildings are based on the rectangle. See if you can list half a dozen reasons.
