CATHOLIC     SENS, BURGUNDY, FRANCE

Sens Cathedral has two rose windows – one in the North transept (#1) and the other in the South transept (#2). • The colourful North window shows the glorified Christ at centre, surrounded by angels playing musical instruments. • The theme of the South window is the Last Judgement. In fact the petal below the centre has a scene of tormented souls boiling in Hell. The window appears to have lost many of its original glass panels. The window was constructed by master stone mason Martin Chambiges.
