Birth, Death : Miriam FOREMAN.
Born at Grote St house. Never married. Gertrude Annie was employed as a Head Cashier for Charles Birks.
Gert was quite a character who worked at Charles Birks store in Rundle Street for most of her life, eventually becoming head of the cash office. She didn't marry, but for some time kept company with a Herbert Hooks (Uncle Herby) who worked in the Men's Department. After the death of his wife, Herb continued to live with his step-daughter who was jealous of Gert, and evidently seduced Herb, because suddenly she and Herb were nmarried and a short time later she presented him with twins. End of romance! Gert was a clever artist, taking up oils and china painting, specializing in miniature brooches. She played violin and sang in the choir. [Ted CARLIER, Miriam FOREMAN]
Lived at 18 Florence St, Goodwood in 1956. [Old envelope!]
