Left Normanville and moved to Strathalbyn 1907, finding work as a general farm hand. He married Ruby in 1913 and about this time commenced work at a local bakery, which became his vocation in later years. During the Depression he worked at stone cracking for road making, and cooking for shearers. In the bakery he worked mainly as an employee, but for several years conducted his own bakery business. This involved delivering the bread with horse and cart, as well as producing it. He also owned and worked an extensive orchard and dairy property. This property became a housing subdivision in 1981. He and Ruby very active in th Strathalbyn church, where he was Secretary for 27 years and SS Superintendant for many years. [Daughter Joyce Boxhall]
