Birth, Death, Marriage : DURDIN Family Tree.
The second child of William and Maria. He was only an infant when his parents migrated to South Australia in August 1852. He ws a young man of 18 years when he ws left to help his widowed mother raise the younger members of the family. They remained on the land at Cape Jervis for several years, but owing to the lack of good crops they moved to Reynella, where their father had previously bought 80 acres of land. Jesse married Emma CANT at the Wesleyan Church at Finnis Vale in 1878. They began their married life at Delamere, later leasing a farm at Second Valley. Finally they moved to Normanville, where he continued farming and raised their family of 5 sons and 2 daughters. Besides farm work he also worked at stripping wattles. As the family grew up and left home, Jesse and Emma moved up to Pata, near Loxton, where they helped their son Albert on his farm until his marriage in 1917. They finally came to live in HAmley Bridge where their son William had built a new home for their use.
