Lloyd spent his first 16 years in Matamata, leaving school at age 14. There followed two and a half years shoe repairing, and a year farming at Wardville in the Waikato Area. He then moved to Auckland with his family. He worked two and a half years for National Electric and Engineering
as a process worker, and then joined the Royal N.Z Airforce where he was Leading Aircraftsman,
Equipment Section for two and a half years. He then joined the National Airways Corporation Stores, transferring to Palmerston North for two and a half years.
 
Lloyd married Marie on 4/8/51. Sandra Anne was born 15/6/52.

The family moved to Hamilton, via Te Awamutu. Lloyd joined James Aviation Ltd as Stores Superintendant for 9 years. He was the original employee at Air Parts NZ Ltd as Parts Manager.  Lloyd and Marie ended up with about 60 employees doing Aircraft Manufacture.  Lloyd became Purchasing Supply Manager, responsible for Parts sales, purchasing Engines, Propellers, all Raw Material and Sub Contracts, both Local and Overseas.  By Government direction Air Parts merged with Aero Engine Services to become NZ Aerospace Industries.

Lloyd was approached by James Aviation Ltd to return and worked there for another 9 years.  James Aviation then took over NZ Aerospace Indutwo and a half years working for Dowty Aviation as their Logistics Manager. He then returned to NZ to work for Aeromotive Hamilton as Purchasing and Supply manager for two and a half years, followed by a year in Malaysia as Managing Director for Aeromotive Hamilton arranging shipment of engines and propellers back to NZ. On his return to NZ, lloyd worked from home organising spares and engine overhauls with Malaysian Companies.

After retirement, Lloyd worked at the Auckland Internationl Airport as a volunteer. This is known as Blue Coat Airport help, and L:loyd is still there ten yrs later at 84 yrs of age.  [Lloyd RICKETTS 8/2010]
