STIRLING LINEAR PARK

STIRLING PARK TRACK LOOP

Total Circuit : 30 minutes, 1.5 km

Detailed Map :

Leaving the Mabel Street Car Park, we again proceed around Woorabinda Lake in a clockwise direction, leaving along the attractive Stirling Park Track alongside the Lake overflow.

The track crosses the stream (bed!) before veering left and gently climbing first past some reed beds and then stands of eucalypts. The Southern Brown Bandicoot is a local inhabitant of the Park, but it is likely he will only be seen on this informative sign.

The track comes out on Branch Road, a lovely residential street. But would I live in a cul-de-sac lined with gum trees?

At first, Branch Road looks to come to a dead end, but in fact a secret path leads downwards.

Very much downward, we notice, glancing back!

Crossing the stream we turn right onto the Keroma Trail, and return to Woorabinda Lake. It is always a delight to come back to this expanse of water: cool, calm, reflective.  Hello, ‘black’ duck!

And swamp hen ...

We follow around the Lake in either direction to reach the car park.
