: The death has occurred in Sydney of Mrs Eva Paris, a member of a pioneer family of the Riverina. She was 89. Mrs Paris was the widow of Robert who predeceased her by many years. She is survived by two sons, Mr R. V. Paris who is assistant to the Chief Security Officer of the Bank of New South Wales, and Mr J. J. Paris, Manager of the Railway Square branch of the same bank. The late Mrs Paris was a daughter of James and Elizabeth Smyth who came to NSW from SA in 1877, and settled at 'Fairfield', Yerong Creek, being among the early settlers in the Riverina. They had a family of four daughters and two sons of whom Mrs paris was the last to survive. ;Fairfield' remained in the possession of the Smyth family until it was sold in 1921 [1920]. Mrs John Smyth, now living at Croydon, Sydney, is a sister-in-law of Mrs Paris and was formerly Miss Nina McClung, a member of a well-known pastoral family. A sister of Mrs Paris, Amy, was married to William McNickle, whose family are also well-known in the riverina. [The Smyth Family History: Settlers of a Sunburnt Land]
