A lengthy account of the life and times of David TWEDDLE and Ann DODGSON, together with the possibilities of their ancestors is given in 'Their roots went deep' - the John DODGSON and James HOOD saga, put together by Phyllis Henderson. It seems certain that David TWEDDLE is the father, and that a Ann (Anna) DODGSON is the mother.
Interestingly, there is no mention of David TWEDDLE in the DODGSON Family History web records.
It seems likely that son John was born out of wedlock, thus explaining why the son adopted his mother's (maiden) name. This would have made Anna 16 when her son was born. There may be some doubt about the maternal parentage here.
