Eldest son of Robert Dodgson of Roanstrees (who died at Longtown) and Mary Bulman his Wife was Born at Roanstrees December the 17th 1770 Baptised as by the Bewcastle Church Register of Baptisms December the 19th 1770. He as Eldest Son and Heir at Law got the Roanstrees and Roanstrees Miln at his Fathers Death in 1823. John married 25 June 1790 Ann Routledge. John Dodgson and Ann Routledge his Wife had Three Children by the marriage. One Son and Two Daughters. Namely. Robert Ann and Mary. They were Baptised by the reverend William Lauder [Q] the Register of their Births stand in the Presbyterian Dissenting Register of Births and Baptisms belonging to Knowe Chapel or Meeting House Parish of Bewcastle (now in 1843 at Knowe Manse in the hands of the Reverend James Laidlaw).
