Robert DODGSON had issue by his Wife Mary BULMAN Three Children two sons and one Daughter. Namely John, Thomas and Mary. Robert purchased the south side of Roanstrees in or about the year 1780 from a man named John ROUTLEDGE (who purchased Roanstrees from James Roantree of Roantreehill in 1754) who resided at Brampton, Cumberland, and joined it with the north part of Roanstrees which was attached to Roanstrees Miln generally called Bailey Miln and on or about the year 1790 sold Stoneknowe the Paternal Estate of the DODGSONS for £800 to Peter Wilson his son Thomas's Father in Law. Robert also sold the Estate of Burnfoot or Pattonside in the parish of Bewcastle to the Littles of Saughs in the said parish. He also between 1795 and 1800 repaired and slated Roanstrees Miln and Kiln which was formerly thatched – and built a Miln for Dressing Flax or Lint, which Flax Miln sometime in or about the year 1820 not being a profitable concern was pulled down. The above named Robert Dodgson was considered a worthy and active man in his day. he was the principal founder of the Presbyterian Dissenting Meeting House or Chapel at Knowe in the parish of Bewcastle which was built by subscription in or about 1788 he having the charge of procuring subscriptions and of Building the Meeting House or Chapel.
