Len spent most of his working life in Insurance, except for a short period when he took up house-keeping at Foxton when the children were small. The couple retired to Raumati Beach after living in Lower Hutt for a number of years. Len died in 1974, when his heart failed after an operation for an anurism. He was cremated.
