GANDY’S GULLY : VALLEY WALK

Circuit : 2 hours 15 minutes, 7.5 km

 VALLEY WALK
   GREENHILL

This is a beautiful gully, especially on an early morning in spring. There are always wild flowers to admire – like this everlasting daisy.

A little way up the track a smaller path branches off to the right, but we continue straight on up the valley, veering right. (A steep mountain bike trail goes straight up the hill here!) The path roughly follows the stream, and there are lovely little scenic points along the way.

Near the top of the Gully, the track starts to climb steeply, and the surface is sometimes loose and scrabbly. Here there are views back across the Gully to the plains beyond.

Finally the track passes a rock cairn.

The Gandy’s Gully Valley Track is on the right.

Veer left here and come out on the upper Coach Rd fire track. This exit is also unsigned, and may be hard to pick from the fire track itself.

Now continue west along the Coach Rd fire track, returning to Skye.  I have come to look forward to this view appearing in front of me – the Skye endpoint of the Coach Rd fire track:

Finally return back from Skye to the Wattle Park shops by one of the several possible routes.
