Morialta Conservation Park is the most popular and developed of the Adelaide Hills parks. Its main entrance lies at the corner of Morialta and Stradbroke Roads, and it is also accessible from Norton Summit Rd, Colonial Drive, and Moore’s Rd.

.

Detailed Map:

The main entrance looks like this, with gates that open around 8 a.m. and close at sunset. There is no restriction on walkers.

Just north up Stradbroke Rd from this entrance is a picnic ground which is also part of the reserve. There is car parking here as well as roadside parking, and the Morialta walking tracks start from here.

There are some historic old buildings in the Picnic Ground.

The walking track follows up along Fourth Creek, past an old stone horse trough. I can see where the water comes out ... !

Within 200 metres the track runs alongside the Lower Car Park.  Here there is a toll gate with a $5 charge to proceed through to the Upper Car Park (free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the time of writing).

There are toilet facilities at the picnic ground and in the Upper Car Park.
From the walking track near this lower car park we have the helpful sign:

So, let the walking begin!

The name ‘Morialta’ is derived from an (Aboriginal) Kaurna word meaning ‘ever flowing’ or ‘running water’.
