Misc. Notes
Came out from England in 1884. On wedding certificate, the maiden name of Albert (II)'s mother is written as Unknown. After marrying Jane, the family lived at The Nook. Nan Sympnds writes: 'The Nook was bought by my grandfather John Baker in 1888. The big walnut tree still in the garden was a big tree then, and could have been the first walnut tree in the area. The house was burnt down, rebuilt, then washed down the river in 1897, brought back, and established where the original house stood. About 1915, two rooms were added. The house is still there, also much of the garden planted by my grandfather, as well as a rose bush and a few other plants that have always been there since they bought the place.' Albert died of alcoholism/cardiac failurre.
